in Credit cards
Checked my credit card statment this morning, saw a wierd transaction with Royal Mail, phoned them and queried it, was to re-direct my mail from my home address to an address they wouldnt give me (it was withheld, even tho the instruction was made supposedly by ME, on MY card, from MY home address)
What worries me more is i got approved for 2 new credit cards Monday morning online (to juggle a balance transfer) then monday afternoon the request was made to redirect my mail
Got crime ref number from police, and locked credit card that was used, whats the chances of finding out the address of where my mail was supposedly going to? and where would they of obtained my card details?

Surely in a case like this the police should visit the address ?? obviously not the case no wonder criminals get away with it, no common sense , maybe the address was the police station, ? with the publicity i have read and seen on tv watchdog , you d think post office would be more informed re these sorts of crime , but alas no at all.0

How do you think they got hold of your details? They obviously had your credit card details and your address. Do you think it was when you made the new applications?
Good job you spotted it!Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation? :cool:0 -
normaly with re-direct post they send a letter to your address also, have you not recieved one?0

I know exactly what you mean, and it makes me angry that even tho Royal Mail claim (or assume) i requested the diversion, they wont tell me where I asked it to be redirected to?
Idiots :mad:0 -

not too sure how they got my details, dont remember putting my credit card detials into the application, no balance transfers reuested at the time so wouldnt of thought i entered my card details?
Bit funny tho i got approve 2 new cards that day, then the request to redirect mail went through0 -

not yet no, but Royal Mail said today i should recieve one soon with confirmation code and detials on it, but NOT the address i requested post to be redirected to? its lunacy! Hoping the police will come back to me at some point with an address (i wait with baited breath) and go from there........
Royal mail assured me they've cancvelled the request, so my new cards and any other mail comes directly to me (how kind of them), but to be honest i dont really want to let this go, but have very little faith in the police doing anything with it0 -
You need a warrant to interfere with the Royal mail so you may have a case for mail tampering allegations or the equivelant of what we call "wire/mail fraud" in the US. My best advice would be to speak to a lawyer and see of they can force a FoI release of the details, for all you know it could be a total mix up and nothing sinister - just the Royal Mail fuking up as usual.
There may be a way in which the CC company could force the Royal Mail's hand for you and force them to disclose the address as the card still remains the property of the lender right? Its a long shot but you'd think fraud and suspected identity theft would trump the non existand and made up civil liberties of some criminal but you never know. The DPA is so messed up in the UK.0
