I just want to add that I know I've been stupid and I deserve this but I honestly didn't know he was claiming benefits etc on it.
Nobody on the telly seems to cover flat letting issues do they. When was the last time somebody in Eastenders/Emmerdale/Coronation Street didn't just rent somewhere pretty instantly.
I blame the telly0 -

You've not been stupid and you certainly don't deserve it!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Who knows how he will react - I guess he will be pretty peed off with me but as to whether he would threaten me then I can't say but he does have access to the property.
Are you the only tenant living there? If so, how do you feel about getting the lock changed to give you peace of mind. It's quite simple and cheap to replace the barrel.
Do you have a written contract with him, an AST?
Do you have accounts with the council to pay council tax? Or are you registered with any service providers on the bills - energy, water, telecoms, etc?
As he's quite crafty and is trying to fly under the radar, chances are that he's on the electoral register there and his mail is still addressed there (bank statements, etc) to give the impression that's his sole residence.0 -
