John Lewis Kingston

Options
Appalled at the way I was treated in John Lewis in Kingstone recently at t.v department, staff member was rude and abrupt with me, and not at all willing to serve me. Sent off complaint to his supervisor and response came back today after I contacted so called customer service department twice to ask why I had not received any acknowledgment from them in 5 days. I have now contacted head office, with full details of treatment received. Would not recommend shopping there in future, do not think staff have been taught customer service.
Can anyone help me? I am looking for a good deal on a mobile phone, I WORK AWAY from home and I require a deal that includes both day and evening calls, I am not too bothered about txt mssg, as I mostly use calls. I am also looking for a slim phone something not too bulke, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks:j

What happened? What did he say to you?

Obviously a sales assistant who really loves his job, and even more so the customers!

    What happened?

I find the staff at JL Kingston overly attentive - why wouldn't they serve you?

Must admit, I have had trouble with this particular branch in the past. 10 years ago I wanted to have my wedding list there but they seemed to think it was a wind up as I was only 21 & looked too young to be getting married apparently! They were quite snobby too & I never did receive an apology despite complaining. Needless to say, I took my wedding list elsewhere! I didin't find the staff great at all & have avoided them ever since, although the London Oxford Street branch, staffed mostly by foreigners & students, always gives me excellent CS. I think it may just be a thing with the Kingston branch, it's staffed by middle-aged middle-class Hampton house-wife wanna-bes IMHO:rolleyes:

In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!
  • Just read this thread and it reminded me of many years ago in this very store, i was at the time heavily pregnant with my now 11 year old. had gone to return a watch id bought for my daughters birthday, wasnt expensive, about £20 if i remember, but basically it didnt work from the moment she put it on. took it back about 2 days later, lady on the watch counter refused to exchange it as she told me my daughter must have broke it. Had my little 2year old boy with me at the time also. Well i was very skint at the time, and had struggled to get there on the train from sutton, 8 months pregnant and 2year old and no birthday present for daughter. I burst into tears (hormones). she called me a stupid woman.
i went home and rang up i think their head office (really not sure but know it wasnt the store)
I got profuse apologies over the phone and the next day they delivered the most enormous bunch of flowers and a £50 gift card.
I was pleased with the result as all i wanted was to exchange the watch, but thought the woman on this desk was the most horrid woman ive ever come accross. even since then. (except for my mother in law lol);)
  • You should of split the fifty quid with her. Done it again and got 100. Again and 200 and so forth......always look for opportunities..

  • typical JL sales people tbh, I remember being made particulary small and unwelcome when going to buy a nice outfit. Strange cos they are prob on commission in some departments. And if so haha to them as I had several hundreds of pounds of someone elses money to spend despite my scruffy appearence. Just go elsewhere. Their image is one of prmium goods to premium customers and of course a premium price.

John Lewis does not pay commission. I'd agree with premium goods but the prices aren't premium, for what you get at least.
