Farm manure

I went to a local farm and the farmer very kindly gave me a 2 tons of manure for free.
Ive put it a corner of the garden that im not using, where it can rot nicely ready to be dug in when ive pulled up my broad beans and cut all my spring cabbages (should be by next weekend). Dig the rest in when ive got a good sized bit to do.
Also got some horse manure for free, and have just ordered some mushroom spawn so that i can grow a good sized patch of mushrooms.

Bet your neighbours will appreciate that when the wind catches it.

Have you heard of aminopyralid contamination of manure? Many people, including myself have been caught out in the last three years or so.
Before you spread it on your ground, I would recomend that you carry out a "bean" test now, as shown on the following page :- http://www.growyourown.info/page164.html

Its the same place i got manure from earlier in the year and from the same heap. My veggies are growing brilliantly this year so they dont appear to be affected. Many thanks though, it was a very interesting read.0

Still carry out the test, farmers can change the sprays they use.
Better to be safe, than very very sorry.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
