I'm cooking Toad in the Hole tonight and thought I might make extra to freeze.
Not sure how to do this? Do I cook it completely, wait to cool and then freeze in its dish? or do I par cook the sausages, add the batter and then freeze without baking?
Thanks in advance.

When I have bought a pre-frozen one, it was part cooked sausages in raw batter.
Although you can buy pre-cooked yorkie puds, but I suppose the sausages take longer to heat through.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
To be honest I make many more yorkies than I need and freeze extras in bags,so I would be tempted to freeze sausages in however many you would use per sitting and throw on a plate with the leftover yorkies that you'd frozen so almost "toad not quite in the hole!!!!!"

Hello you helpful ladies,
The kids are off to their dads tomorrow for 10 days and i dont want them eating processed rubbish all the time.
I have been batch cooking all day for food to take with them, i thought about doing toad in the hole (well aunt bessie does it), question is should i cook the sausages first or will it be ok to just pour the batter mix onto raw ones then freeze? or should i freeze the sausages then pour on the batter mix then freeze again?
Didn't think i could make it so complicated lol xI will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!

Ha, great minds, I've got the grandkids staying for a couple of weeks and did frog in a bog for the freezer lol. I partially cooked the sausages before adding the batter then part cooked the batter before chilling and freezing. hthSometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -

#93 seems to suggest you can freeze toad in the hole, although this thread does seem to be talking about freezing an entirely cooked dish that can be reheated in the oven.
I think that you should definitely precook the sausages as they are tastier if fried before being coated in batter!0
