battery operated lights

i have just bought 3 8w florescent lights for under my units in kitchen they require 8 aa batteries but i hope they workout cheaper tham runnig six R50 40w ceiling lights that are constantly blowing.
What do you think or recomend as an alternatve to my ceiling lights.

I bought a clip on plug in light last year. It's really handy as we can move it around the house as we need it.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
