Primus Questions....

I signed up for Primus 6 months or so ago. Then as now, there were various offers available. One involved signing up through USwitch and another direct from their website after being creative with the menus selecting the package.

Either way it meant that after 12 months the cost of the package would have effectively been free.

I signed up onlne and have been charged £2.99/month since with no sign of any credits.

Does anybody have any recollection of what the online offer might have been ?

Cheers in advance for any help......

Was it an offer along the lines as mentioned in this thread?

This is the only offer I can remember Primus doing via USwitch but I could be wrong.
  • where you paid £2.99 a month and they then paid you £15 every qaurter?

If it is, then I haven't had my £15 for any of the last 2 quarters either so I rang them up last week and they said they would look into it for me.

In fairness to them they did phone back but I was out and they didn't leave any message with my son, so I'm assuming that the £30 will be on my next statement.

Give them a ring as I got the impression that it wasn't uncommon for people not to get their £15.

    ...

i didn't think you were charged anything with Primus? I've just signed up with them (week ago) under the impression there is no monthly fee?

    You're right Jenny.

However, the £2.99 was a 'special' only available for a month or two via the uswitch website. It was called something slightly different (Primus Freetalk) and gave the same free E&W calls as the Primus Saver Option 2 package - but for a £2.99 monthly fee and with a £15 per quarter rebate for the first year (i.e. in effect, they paid you £2.01 for 12 months to make your free E&W calls via them).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

You may not have been making any chargeable calls? If you stick to the free off-peak calls then no bills (the triggers for the £15 payments) will be generated.

Just make one 5p call during peak hours, and after three bills the payment should kick in. You'll need to repeat this through the 12 months of the offer.

Monthly bills would be generated for the £2.99/month fee regardless of whether any chargable calls were made..

I don't believe this matters. Nothing in the offer stated this and we've been with Primus for 4 months now and have not made any chargable calls - all geographical ones because our 08x numbers are routed elsewhere. Although we initially didn't get the credit as we're meant to I just rang them and said about the offer and that we hadn't received the credit. They apologised and applied it there and then and it showed up on our next bill.
