wrong way one way street

Hi, i know its a problem of my own making and it should not have happened but in a different part of town i inadvertently entered wrong end of one way street.MInis have a certain blind spot which can be difficult even at traffic lights. however i take responsibility for my mistake. my question is if anyone can tell me what sort of penalty is likely to ensue, will it mean points on my license and how long it would be before i would get the fine.
there were no wardens around but the area is heavily cctvd with signs everywhere announcing 'you are being watched'. thanks

You may not even get a PCN at all.

I turned into the wrong end of a one-way street in my local City about 10 months ago (swiftly and safely turned round just a few metres in, it was a wide road). I never got a PCN and that area is full of cameras as well and the Council is renowned for hating cars.

But if you do get a postal PCN from the Council, why not challenge it? Most Council PCNs are decriminalised, if so then it's a moving traffic contravention with no points on your licence and the option to appeal and get off the fine completely!

It is for the Council to prove it and to serve the paperwork to you properly. Just because you made a mistake and seem to be 'bang to rights' doesn't mean the Council won't make mistakes as well!

I would ALWAYS appeal a Council PCN these days, having seen the vast majority of Council PCNs being successfully appealed with advice from pepipoo forums. There may well be common flaws in the paperwork which will make any PCN not payable (even though you did make that wrong turn).

Register & post here, a picture of the PCN if you get one, and ask if there is an 'out' for you:

    There usually is.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you so much for your response Coupon. I feel a little relieved nowl I wonder if there is a legal height at which these signs should be displayed. This is an area heavily used by HGV drivers very many from overseas and the sign would be easily seen at the height. As I was unfamiliar to the area I was looking for signsbut even my front seat passenger did not notice no entry sign. I again say thanks for taking time to post and Iwill very definitely take your advise. Do you know the sort of timescale in which I could expect to receive a postal PCN if I am to get one?

I thonk they are supposed to send it within 28 days but not sure about this, others may advise. But I would be looking to appeal simply because pepipoo forums show that you can!
