Pollinating aubergines?
Comments
-
I have one aubergine and it only has one flower at a time. So far none have been pollinated. If I wanted to do it by hand which flowers would be best - peppers or courgettes (nothing else in flower at the moment)?
Not a biologist, but neither AFAIK, they are all different plant genus
Aubergine is Solanum, so nearest would be tomato
Pepper is capsicum, and courgette is cucurbita genus
It would be similar as trying to mate a horse with a kangaroo or penguin, possible but no offspring

Thanks, oh well no aubergines this year.0

Give it a feed, make sure it's not root bound, and then give it time, you will get both types of flowers and fruit too,

Maybe lesson for next year? Plant two or more of them? When an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0

Aubergenes produce both male and female flowers. When you have both types out at the same time, take the male pollen and put onto the female flower.0
