    As long as it for the same offence and you have proof of attending the course it may be tempting to simply ignore the COFP.
    If they issue a summons then send a letter telling them of their mistake. If they the insist the summons stands then go to court, take all your documents including the letter you sent (by confirmed delivery), win and claim costs.

    OP, did you not think it strange to receive a NIP in February and a COFP now for an offence in February stating the exact same speed?

    I know I would.

    I couldn't remember the date of the offence (it was actually looking at my previous posts here that I realised it was a mistake). I thought the original offence was in April.

    Yes the speed did look like a coincidence, and I was a bit put off by the road description (some B road) as when I put it into Google maps it showed me somewhere much further north than where the event happened.

    It was when I followed the road down, and checked my original posts dates on this forum (a post I made when I received the NIP back in February) that I realised it was a mistake. Remember that the whole thing (from receiving the letter today) to phoning them and sorting it out was a matter of 30 minutes - and I assumed the original case was closed.
