Sorry, I was i the middle of something, in retrospect i probably shouldn't have said anything at the time. You can claim 13 weeks in advance.13.—(1) Where, although a person does not satisfy the requirements for entitlement to benefit on the date on which a claim is made, the adjudicating authority is of the opinion that unless there is a change of circumstances he will satisfy those requirements for a period beginning on a day ("the relevant day") not more than 3 months after the date on which the claim is made, then that authority may-
(a) treat the claim as if made for a period beginning with the relevant day; and
(b) award benefit accordingly, subject to the condition that the person satisfies the requirements for entitlement when benefit becomes payable under the award.
(2) An award under paragraph (1)(b) shall be reviewed by the adjudicating authority if the requirements for entitlement are found not to have been satisfied on the relevant day.
(3) This regulation does not apply to any claim for maternity allowance, attendance allowance, mobility allowance, retirement pension or increase, family credit, or any claim within regulation 11(1)(a) or (b).0 -

Given the current workload at the JCP, any attempt to claim early will be met with an invitation to apply when the claimant is actually out of work. There is not the capacity to deal with possible unemployment.Gone ... or have I?0 -
That's not legally defensible.
It may not be but any JCP I have worked in have not accepted claims in those circs. The OP will end up feeling very frustrated if she tries to follow this at her local JCP . Of course if this is not the case then full apologies , maybe it would be worth the OP asking the question of her local JCP. Regardless hope the OP finds another job asap .:)0 -
Thanks for your help guys. I didn't think it was too likely but I may pop into the job centre tomorrow to see if anything can be done.
And thanks for the good luck in finding a new job! I'm hoping that I don't have to claim at all!0
