Halifax ovredraft?

Hi

I haven't used my arranged overdraft before, but after a silly error, I'm about £20 into the overdraft.

I know there's a buffer of £10 where no charges are incurred, but if I settled the OD difference later today / evening, will I still incur a days charge?

    Hi!
When did you go into the overdraft?

I would imagine you will still be charged. I went overdrawn last year by 2p for a SPLIT second when the systems updated overnight and was charged. It didn't make any sense when i looked at my statement online as i had money going in too. I had to call customer services and they advised it was because, when updating, the bank takes debits first then deposits credits leading to a split second being overdrawn. I argued the point and had the charge reversed luckily, but i found the whole situation outrageous and would've closed down the account had i had another one to use :(

Most banks would charge you for that.

However, if you have either the Halifax Reward or Ultimate Reward account (i.e. get £5 every month) then as far as I am aware you would not be charged, if you went into overdraft today and pay it off by midnight tonight.

    Thanks for the info.

I'm unable to fund my Reward account when I accidently sent it into OD this morning.

Tried FP from A&L, but failed due to Santander taking over (treated as first transfer). So will this amount hit my Halifax account on Monday or Tuesday?

I could transfer £100 from my Halifax ISA, but as it affected potential future interest earnings, I think I'll find a way of depositing cash in branch tomorrow.

So, being overdrawn for a day has only cost me £1, right?

Yep one pound each day but five pound if the overdraft is unarranged.
