Beginning to get annoyed... is there anything I can do?

Haven't been on for a while, but have now got to the end of my tether with a debt collection agency called Intrum Justicia.

In a nutshell, I used to do Avon cosmetics, I owed them a small amount of money (around £27 ish), however when they phoned me and asked me to pay £32 I disputed it, because that was the wrong amount. I was told to pay immediately or they would start charging me for late payment. I said I would find my final invoice and pay them the amount on that and that I would call them back, as lets face it, they could be anyone phoning me. At this point I was told that if I did not pay it before the end of the call they would charge me £5! I told her that I would not pay a disputed amount and that I would take it up further.

Anyway, the phonecalls continued whilst I disputed the amount, sent them copies of my paperwork etc, before I knew it they wanted £59 from me, that is the original amount plus late fees!!! I point blank refused to pay it and they put a default on my credit file. I was not best pleased about the default and asked them to remove it, they refused and said they would mark it as settled once I had paid the full outstanding amount including charges. They then sent it to Intrum.

This was around a year ago.

Intrum, after getting no joy from me, because as far as I was concerned, the amount was in dispute and they (Avon) had no right either defaulting me or passing my account to a DCA, passed me onto another agency and this continued for the past year. However, now Intrum have received it back again and are continuously phoning my home, usually at least once a day, but they have been known to phone many more times.

I have kept a note of these phonecalls and have told them on many occassions that by law, all they need is one method of communication. I have requested that be by letter only and asked them to remove my number from their systems. They have refused. They are arrogant, pompus and very very rude and keep telling me I know nothing about the law etc etc. I keep telling them that if they are so convinced that I am in the wrong, to take me to court to see what a judge will say, but again they keep refusing.

Their latest piece of advice was to pay the full amount including charges and dispute it later, because I may get my charges back and Avon may remove the default..... not likely!!

Anyway, here is the list of times and dates they have called.... can I take this further on the basis they are harassing me??

Have you sent them a recorded letter stating that you will only deal with them in writing going forward? If not... I'd suggest you do and leave them the time to process the letter and update their systems.
Unless you record the calls and inform them you have recoded the call at the start then you could have told them the moon was blue...
