Bought myself an electric assisted bike

After looking for a few weeks I have ' bit the bullet' and splashed out on an electric bike. I have Arthritis in both knees and the Dr says I need to exercise but I can't walk very fast, I can't take the dog out 'cause she pulls me too much. All the exercise machines we have in the house (and we do have a lot) resemble torture implements and I'm going backwards in my scores on the Wii fit, so it's time to get back on a bike. I'm hoping the electric assist will help me enough to get my knees mobile and lose some weight in the process. If it doesn't work, it will be lined up with all the other implements of torture (I mean exercise machines). Watch this space.

Electric assist = you still need to pedal for the motor to work, Legal implications i think.

Stops everyone making them for pennies and people riding all around town on them flat out.

No, I can use pedal assist or throttle, but my aim is to use pedal assist most of the time and throttle only if I have trouble climbing hills.
The whole idea is to get my joints more supple and hopefully lose some weight (am also on a low fat diet) so pedalling is important.
As for legal implications the bike is limited to 15mph under electric power (dependent on rider weight), so classed as legal.
