what to do to get a refund?

my friend called a 090 number off my phone, it was for a competition for a holiday
unfortunately the phone line was dead, it rang but after the first message, it didnt actually get through to the person...and resulted in 10 minutes of silence
which means an expensive call from a mobile phone
i was given the mobile number and the option to call customer services, doesnt connect, the minute you press option 4, it then disconnects you>?
any advice what to do as ive looked on google and i cannt see another way to get a contact number
i need a refund

Were you ringing to get a refund (for something?) or are you trying to get a refund of the actual call charge or both? Not entirely clear.
If its just the call charges then no you cant..... (in all probability)
You (or your friend) shouldnt have stayed on a premium rate number on a mobile!
Your only chance is if its a genuine legit company and not a scam competitions (like a Thomas cook competition). Then you could write to them and ask them for compo but i doubt they owe it as you are the one that dialled......Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Why would anyone hang on to a phone for 10 mins of silence?0

Being on TV has no bearing on whether or not its a scam but anyways your still unclear, who and why were you calling?
Its doubtful in any even you will get a refund, not just because it will be hard but because you have no right to one.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
All you can do is write a letter and appeal to their better nature. The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

You can find out who the company is that the number belongs to here if you don't know:
http://www.phonepayplus.org.uk/output/check-a-number.aspx
then all I could suggest would be writing to them with your complaint and asking, but in all honesty I wouldn't want to get your hopes up!Little lady arrived 13/12/110 -
Ask your friend to pay! And in future be more careful who you lend your phone to and what numbers you/they call.
Unless it's a legitimate company who you can write to in order to complain, you won't be getting your money back. Lesson learnt?0 -
dont worry ive got a refund in the post now!0
