Thanks, fairtrade - this is very interesting (and the fact that Santander comes bottom might reassure people that a well-conducted survey can reflect reality!) Always a kicker if you get mucked about by a bank that is highly rated, of course!

They have attractive rates, too - unfortunately they not only share the same £50k protection but also share it with the Halifax, AA etc. What a pity good rates aren't more evenly distributed between banks!

I've taken Santander to the Ombudsman (and won) twice, and had to complain about them loosing my money on another three occassions. I don't care if they offered double the rate of the next best, I would never touch them with my savings.
