Declined Career Development Loan

Options
Hi all

I had applied a few weeks ago for a career development loan with Barclays for a 12 month course I wanted to do which starts this September. Ive just heard back from them saying I have been declined for exceeding my overdraft limit on my current account, even though I dont have any defaults, CCJ's or any of those other things :(

I dont really know what to do - they've said I should reapply in 3 months and if I dont exceed my limit they will approve me, but the course starts in 2 months and they need payment before starting.

I didnt realise exceeding the limit was so bad! I paid the interest and brought the account back within the limit, so I thought that was the end of the matter? I didnt realise it affected my credit score :(

Anyone have any ideas on how to get the money required? Im already putting the car and all my non essential items up for sale, but having done the sums im still a couple of thousand short

Id appreciate any ideas you all have!

Can i ask what qualification you're going on to study? I ask as i am studying law with a view to practice and i know that the Inns of Court that i have to join allow students in financial hardship to access funds to pay for post graduate qualifications. Perhaps there is something like that around for your chosen career?

Hi :) its a business course which sets you up with a 12 month work and learn arrangement with a company in the US, and the education element is delivered by st Marys college in the UK

I dont think I'd qualify as Ive looked previously, and unless the rules have changed there was nothing available at the time
