Ok I realise this is supposed to be about money saving not about spending £285 getting the paintwork done, but just look at the results.

I reckon I've probably added at least £285 to the value of my car doing that? yes/no?

No I don't work for TI22 but given that on forums you usually see people complaining about dodgy garages and poor work I thought I'd post some excellent work for a change.

It's sad but most people's idea of a good car wash is £3.50 for the automated car wash at the petrol station (free swirl marks with every wash), or £2.50 for some illegal immigrants to clean it with a stone enriched sponge and chamois. Or worse washing up/fairy liquid and some water at home. I am sure most people cannot grasp the concept of detailing and would see it as having paid nearly £300 to clean the car and think you're bonkers, lol.

My only issues are in the first pic it looks like they missed out tyre dressing and trim dressing on mudflaps (but could be digital camera pics) and they could have cleaned the exhaust exit up and polished a little (but unless it's stainless would look yellow within a week).

It is a lot of money but you're mainly paying for their time, and you benefit from their knowledge and expertise which someone diy'ng after looking at detailingworld forums wouldn't have.

Funny you should say that, that's exactly what I did last Sunday!

The " after " will look like the " before " in a weeks time, waste of money.

They have just tarted it up.

Not unless another chav pebble dashes me by overtaking on a road full of loose chippings it wont.

I have lots of pics of the inbetween stages that I'll get around to processing and resizing. There's a lot more than just a bit of T cut gone into it.

Besides, when you have a car as rare as mine it's good to try to keep it nice. If nothing else a good series of pictures over the years of it looking in tip top condition will help with the valuation when some idiot eventually drives into it and destroys it.

Well they didn't put much " detail " in to the brake parts, they are rusty.;)

Yeah. Brake discs do that, what with them being bare metal. When they come up for replacement I could have the centres painted black if I were really bothered.

At the end of the day I paid for one days work and asked for the paintwork to be sorted, not the brakes. I also told him that the exhaust was getting replaced with a stainless one soon, so no point doing that either.

I didn't get the interior done, so the only pics I have are from the original for sale ad in Japan, oh and this one.

Totally unrelated pic, but I really like it, even if it caused me major hassle getting legal numberplates:

  • Unusual and proper car that in the sea of bland cloned hatchbacks out there.

Never had a proper detailing one any of my cars, though i keep them well meself.

Good point about brake discs/calipers, i paint the non friction surfaces of the discs and the calipers with black Hammerite.
Finishes the car off, and takes minutes to do after a brake strip out clean and lubricate after the winter salt has gone.
