Water lillies

Mine are not flowering . They have in the past. There was one bloom , but it opened 4 inches below the surface.Water has been clear, lots of leaves. Level of pond only raise/falls by an inch . Any ideas?

Fertiliser? If the lily is in a pot you can get the solid fertiliser sticks to shove in with them.

When planted , 2 or 3 summers ago , I did use the correct stuff, can it need renewing?

My water lily in a small container pond has just flowered for the first time after being in for 2 years, just when I was beginning to despair, so I'm after all the tips I can get!

Good link , thanks. Looks like I need to re-pot.
But did not say when , thinking early autumn??
I knew that the flowers disliked moving water, so this is the first year I have removed the 'up' pipe from the pump. So I only get a very small water movement on the surface, but the water fall still flows.

The link did say flowers from June , so may be a bit quick to be complaining, just that a neighbour has had a few ... all different colours, jealous ..me :rotfl:

I know what you mean - my container only has the water lily in, so in the end a couple of weeks ago I resorted to buying a plastic water lily flower from a local nursery. :rotfl: I was walking around with a severe case of water lily envy, complaining that the instructions with mine said June and it was now July. I think the first flower finally appeared about 10 days ago - shortly after I added the plastic one. Sods law and all that.

Being the impatient type, I'd probably repot now in the hope it might prompt a sudden spurt on the flower front, but that as I have no idea of what you're actually supposed to do, on your own head be it if you decide not to wait.
