Confused by 3 mobile terms and conditions

Hi all
The minimum term for my 3 mobile contract ends on 17th July of this month. I called this monday to cancel the contract but was unfortunately pressurised into taking out another 2 year contract and paid upfront for a new handset. That evening I panicked (my reception is poor) and called customer services the next day to cancel my contract. I was given my PAC code and told I would be refunded for the handset in my final bill come august.

All seems fine but I am still slightly worried that I am going to be stung for early cancellation. I asked CS to confirm that my minimum contract ends on 17th July and they said yes but I have heard some horror stories with 3 in which people have cancelled contracts then continued to be charged. Plus I have been told that delivery of the new handset can not be cancelled and that I have to refuse delivery of it.

I guess my question is if the 7 day cooling of period for distance selling will apply in my case? I am scared that I am going to face charges for the contract I cancelled the day after I took it out and that I wont know that I face charges until my bill in August, by which time it is too late to do anything about it.

I was told that I had a 14 day money back guarantee starting from delivery of the mobile but then on the 3 website it says that this only applies to new customers. And does this 14 day guarantee apply to the mobile contract as well as the handset? Can anyone clarify?

Sorry for the long post- I just can't bear to face another epic phone call with customer services!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You could ask them to send you confirmation in writing that the new 2 year contract isnt going to go ahead and that you have in fact cancelled it and the date you cancelled it.

That way if anything did go wrong in August when you get your final bill......you would have proof that you cancelled it :)
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
