Problem with Norton Antivirus

I got a message saying that my Virus Definitions are out of date and have not been updated since 23 August! My Norton Subscription is valid until February 2007. so it should be okay.

When I try to run Live Update it is saying it cannot connect with Symantec Server. Is there a problem with their server just now or do I have a problem with my PC?

  • I've had exactly the same issue. It seems that my Norton Internet Security 2003 is not supported any more, but I can upgrade for only $49.99 (even though I have free virus updates until next year!!!!!!!

I managed to fix the connection issue, but now Live Update says everything is fine when I run it, but then after a while I get the warning message saying my definitions are not up to date.

However, I can still update my virus definitions using the Intelligent Update on the link below .

I am now on the lookout for good free security packages (Norton was included with my PC package).

    Hope that helps.

That's how rich I want to be. ;)

But until then - best wishes - Mike.

Does it also give an Error code? If you Google for this code, you should find a fix to sort it out.

Are you sure? I got the 06/09/06 definitions update yesterday evening, and another update (I think signatures if I recall correctly) this morning - both via LiveUpdate.

My subscription is supposedly good until 29/10/08.

I had this problem a month or so back, the fix was to download the latest version of Live Update from the Symantec site.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Would recommend AVG when your subscription runs out

  • I had this problem and it was that the PC date was set incorrectly! I'd confirm this first of all!
