Courier companies??

Now that the post office have increased their prices, does anyone know of a good and cheap courier company that I can use.
I have an item for sale on Ebay, but had put collection only on it.
Have had an enquiry from Scotland and wants me to courier it to him.
Anyone got any ideas?

I'll move your thread over to the 'I wanna' board, where it should get more views and responses.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

  • I posted something this week at the post office and the price was less than it was before. Swings and roundabouts it seems.
(Sorry I can't recommend any courier companies)

parcel2go are a decent company and prices are reasonable and if you have their logo on your auction you get a discount also

Received an email from them today saying they will give you 33% off for bookings made between 12 noon Friday and 11:30 Saturday 9 September, I presume you could trhow a load of bookings in as you can choose the day you want your items collected

I'm using Pharos International after recommendations on this board. Often a little more than the PO though it's usually a next day service. 60 pounds worth of insurance is included as standard and extra insurance if needed is cheap. They are also exceptional value for European parcels. They use UPS but are far cheaper than going direct

Be careful with couriers and Scotland. Whilst the RM correctly consider Scotland to be in the uK and charge standard rates, many couriers charge extra for some parts of Scotland and anything across water and may be a lot more expensive.

I used to send boxes of items to a lady on a remote Island in the Highlands and RM was considerably cheaper than anyone else.

  • Hi,
I sent an ebay parcel last week and did it through the parcelforce website, it weighed 10kg and they came and collected it frim the door, only cost me £13.25. It arrived the next day which i was really surprised and pleased with. Would use them again. Hope this helps you.
  • This service via ebay has been mentioned before http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PARCEL-DELIVERY-NEXT-DAY-UK-24HR-UP-TO-31-5KG_W0QQitemZ150029595254QQihZ005QQcategoryZ317QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

You certainly will not beat their price. I can't personally vouche for the service though. I did use a similar service through ebay and my parcel was picked up by parcelforce.

Certainly worth getting a quote from Pharos International via the website. Have had no problems with them and AFAIK, they consider the UK mainland to include Scotland (the main bit at least!!).

Deanos - is the insurance with ANC now £120? When I used them a few months ago it was £12 per kg.
