Current Ac & Savings Account

I am looking to change from my current bank (Ulster Bank) NI.

In this bank, which I have been with since 16/17yrs old.

I have my own current ac currently with around £5000 in and I get my wages paid into this account every month over £1000.

I also have a joint savings ac with my partner, this account is where all of our mortgage and other utilities bills get paid from and it currently stands at around £2000.

We both have standing orders from our relevent current ac's going into the savings one to take care of our bills.

I have a switch card for my current ac which i use alot but cannot use anywhere outside the UK, which is a pain so would like this changed to something I can use anywhere.

As I dont really get any interest etc from the Ulster bank I am looking to change to some of these newer ones I have read about here, but as I have been with my current bank for a lifetime i really don't have a clue, who or what to look for. for eg these high interest deals places are offering is that per month or do u just get it at end of year??? Sorry for a daft question:eek:

I Dont like bank charges I know that eg setting up or canx direct debits etc

Dont believe in overdrafts either would have one.

Can anyone give me some advice PLEASE:confused:

I obviously am one of those who thinks it's gonna be extremely complicated to change, but am obviously loosing out on some savings.

ALL HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!

Coventry's current account maybe a good option as they pay over 5% on the first £250k!! So if you like to leave a big balance in there that may work out best. Most of the others pay an attractive rate up to say £2500. Would recommend A&L (if you do make sure you get one of us to recommend you to get the £50 referal bonus) or the Lloyds TSB (4%) which comes with probably the best regular saver account (8% fixed for 2 years)
