One of mine has no MOT as I need to do some work on it. It's now SORN as well.
Obviously I can't tax it without an MOT so is it OK to drive it to a pre-booked appointment while it's SORN?Can I help?0 -

Yes you can. I have just checked the DVLA website for you.

That page has "timed out" and copying and pasting does not work, but surely the vehicle has to be taxed, as there is an offence of "not displaying a tax disc", ( or does SORN counteract this?), the vehicle will also have to be insured to drive it on a public road, and as this particular vehicle is SORNED, it is unlikely to have insurance?Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

I'll sort that link out when I get home.
It clearly states on the DVLA site that there is one exception to driving a car declared SORN on the road and that is to a pre-booked MOT. It does also state that the vehicle must be insured.
Edited to add - this is cut and paste from the linked pageWould you like to know more about...
Statutory Off-Road Notification (SORN)
If I declare SORN does my vehicle have to be kept off the public roads?
Yes. Any vehicle that is kept or used on public roads must have a valid tax disc. There is one exception - when the vehicle is going to a pre-arranged MOT test and the vehicle has valid insurance for the journey.
You are also allowed to drive an untaxed vehicle to a pre-booked MOT so the offence of failing to display does not arise in those circumstances.
As for insurance, you would presumably still insure against fire and theft on a SORN car and I can't imagine it would be that difficult to add third party at least to enable it to be taken on the road for the MOT.0
