Actually what we ended up doing was to drive all the way down the M5 to Plymouth. This avoided the nagging problems of the A30 although they may not exist now?

Difficult the M5 ends at Exeter after there it becomes the A38 to Plymouth.:D

The A30 is now dual carriageway until Carland Cross the Truro turn off, apart from one small stretch on Bodmin, all the old delays and bottlenecks are bypassed now, however it just backs the traffic up further down into West Cornwall at peak holiday times.

we have driven from lancashire twice before, and set off at midnight with the kids safely snoozing in the back and share the driving.

Though i do remember last time the roads/services seemed to be lined with caravans i expect come 7 am they are all making their way along the A30.

Well I'm sure you knew what I meant, :D:o I did say it was 20 years or so ago.

Heard that the road had been improoved, but not been that way recently.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
