Please can anyone help.
I have received 2 letters from a company called intrum justica stating that they are operating on behalf of eBay International AG and claiming I owe £199 .
I have not received any mail or e-mails from eBay concerning this matter.I know I do not owe anything to any purchaser as I have checked my A/C.I have never purchased anything over £100
All I got was a first letter around 10 days ago from intrum justica stating I owed the money and enclosing a payment slip.
I emailed ebay and paypal to ask them to sort the matter out and thought this was the end of the matter.
I today received another letter from intrum justica informing me that they are commencing court action and enclosing another payment slip.
I have tried calling intrum justica on the 0870 number, after holding for some time without an answer I gave up.
I have e-mailed ebay again and tried phoning, but only get a recorded message telling me to e-mail.
Please does anyone know how to deal with this?
Is there an e-bay number that is answered by a human.
Is there an intrum justica number that is answered at all(Is it a real company or a front for a scam )
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Try the 01789 number for general enquiries as that is the area code for stratford and may possibly be cheaper for you to call.I live in my own little world, but it's ok as everyone knows me here

You cannot incur charges either on ebay or on paypal as a buyer, only a seller incurs charges. Have you ever been a seller on ebay, as if so this may be overdue fees, plus lots of debt collection fees.
If you haven't ever been a seller then I am mystified.
There is no telephone number for ebay, all you can do is email or try live help.

Have you checked your seller account on ebay? There's a link on the left of the My Ebay page

Hi, Thanks for the suggestions.
I checked my seller a/c.I last sold something in Nov 2004,the fees were debited from my card and my a/c shows zero.
The other strange thing about this intrum justica letter is that it only gives a PO box number in Harlow.0 -
This is starting to sound dodgy. Call the number for the real intrum justica and see if they know anything about this.:wall:0

Can't offer any help re your problem but some years ago I received demands from Interim Justicia for an account that I knew nothing about, I phoned them and asked what was going on, the female I spoke to was extremely curt and kept repeating that if it was in my name it must be my debt and I had to pay it or they would take me to court. I ignored them and another letter arrived, I tried again to get through to them but their phone staff are downright rude and nasty, I repeatedly told her my name was Lorna NOT Laura but she refused to listen and insisted I must pay up or else. Anyway did a bit of checking and found newcomers to the area with the same surname, phoned them and said I thought I had received their mail, the woman said yes it will be for my daughter Laura, she came and collected it, I phoned I.J. and told another female what had happened and she just laughed and said I should just pay up as the courts would make me in the end anyway..aarrrggghhhhh!. I.J. letter had reference to mail order company so pulled their details off internet and phoned them and gave them the correct name and address, they said sorry and would make sure I.J. stopped hounding me, and they did but I wrote to their MD and asked for an apology for the disgraceful manner in which I was spoken to by his staff, am still waiting several years later.
The point of this reply is ... if you are sure this is not your debt then get some legal advice from the CAB on how to deal with these ignorant morons because they will not listen to a word you say and will keep hounding you until it goes to Court, if you do ignore it the Court will find against you regardless of whether you are innocent or not and you will have a devil of a job sorting it out again.
I asked my Lawyer for advice after the second letter and he said I would have to appear in person to offer proof that I was not the debtor, me = Scotland ... Court = England.. not like a trip to my local Tesco.
Good LuckSpeak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and agressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit0
