More than one wedding took place on my wedding day..

I think you're being reasonable.
Very much sone - your tone comes accross very well; despite the isues you've had, you don't sound ranty, which will hopefully help when you discuss with the venue.
Good luck!0 -
Any chance of tracking down the other bride and finding out if she was exspecting to the the only bride at the venue as well?0

Check your contract for the exclusivity clause.
When you meet the manager state that your tables weren't set out according to the plan you had sent them nor did you receive the menu that you had chosen, tell them that their poor handling of your wedding almost ruined the day and ask them how they are going to compensate for that.0 -
Thank you everyone once again for your help.
With regards to the further £500 they are asking for.. do I have to pay that? can they make me pay it, after I signed and paid the final invoice? The worst thing is that we really do not have that money at all. We spent everything with the wedding and the honeymoon…
I don’t think we will be able to trace the other bride..
Horace, thank you for your reply. I will speak to the manager, we have a meeting early next week. But, when I ask them how are they going to compensate me for all of the things that went wrong, I’ve got a feeling that they will just say, we aren’t. should I have a back up plan? Should I threaten with something else, like taking them to trading standards?0 -
I would speak to Trading Standards now and that way you will have that under your belt when you speak to the manager next week.
I would dispute the £500 that they are now asking for and use your experience as leverage i.e. the table layout, the non-exclusivity, the unauthorised menu change, the upset.
It seems strange that you had paid the full and final invoice 2weeks beforehand and yet they decided after your wedding to say they had made a mistake and undercharged. Have you still got your original quotation and paperwork from them relating to your wedding? The price you were quoted and the price you paid on the final invoice should be the price you pay (get clarification from Trading Standards on this).
Personally, I wouldnt pay it and would be making a counter claim at the small claims court (you can do this online) for £500 compensation for the upset at the wedding by not providing the table layout and the menu you were promised because you haven't got what you paid for.
Your first stop is Trading Standards, then you have a meeting with the hotel manager because then you have more information and information is power.0
