Cheers matey. Cunning Mr Fox will have to come up against my Firearms certificate! We are going to try and go for a sealed coop in the evenings, although I understand foxy has had a large number of ducks and eggs over the past 12 months and any control I can do would be welcome.

As for the fruit, we madeour first batch of jam (using last years frozen bramble pickings) and couldnt believe how easy it was... we are going for green tomato chutney and sweet onion chutney as a trial later on in the year, the former requiring loads of apples. Cider could be a go-er, we are thinking of opening a B+B/holiday rental in the next few years... a couple of (free) bottles of scrumpy and free preserves on the breakfast table hopefully will work wonders in helping with the ambiance!

Thanks for the advice so far, going to do more research into rootstock grafting, sounds facinating. Has anyone grafted more than one type of fruit onto a single rootstock or wouldnt it work?

I don't know whether they've still got them but Morrisons are good for fruit trees. I've had plum; cherry; and apples.
Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
