Shared Ownership

Hi all,
Currently renting in the private sector, looking into buying a home via the 'shared equity' scheme with local government.
Firstly the mortgage products available are 'crap' typically 7%, secondly the lenders available are neglible, and thirdly my concerns would be the re-sale of the property to a smaller number of buyers.
Anyone got advice/experience?
Cheers
