PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. Yeah, Blair might be a bit more sympathetic now since he'll be looking for some new accommodation of his own in a few months time.0 -

I wish you would go jammin in jamaica and price the locals there out of their houses and see what happens.
Doom is a massively overpriced housing stock. Gloom is an entire generation under 30 lumbered with mega mortgages.0 -
PropertyGuru wrote:I just thought it was worth pointing out - the website for people who believe a crash is coming is:-
http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk
not the lame 'me too' forum mentioned above (which has about 3 members, 2 posts a day, and some little estate agent w@nker also calling himself 'Property Guru).
Accept no substitutes! PRICES WILL FALL!!!:money:
Oh, yes - I hadn't notice someone had posted the 'wrong' website address up above.
BTW, welcome to this forum - I think you are quite active on the other one, which I have been observing for some time but without posting anything. It is very amusing and good to read as a foil to the rubbish spin one reads in the papers/sees on the news, etc. I like the polar bear with red specs (realistbear), and there are a few other posters who seem witty and clever . . .0 -
Well somebody must have voted Bliar and his gang of thieves... Or are you now cynical enough to think that the "economic miracle"/"sustained growth whatever may just be have a bit too much sand in the foundations?
Take a look at the numbers for personal debt, pensions, PFI, public sector liabilities, government borrowing, Balance of Payments etc some time - scary stuff (but no problem, it's all in the future, hopefully after the Platinum-plated pensions have kicked in).0 -

They are a commercial enterprise and serve no purpose apart from trying to make money out of it, the remaining members there seem to support this idea, the originators sold out to a bunch of teenyboppers with some of daddy's money to let them buy it as some of their other sites were unsuccessful.webmaster: http://www.globalhousepricecrash.com0 -
wow, thanks for your replies, i didnt know it would generate such a response! good to know im not the only one that is in this position (or not good to know depending on how you look at it!). i also find it amusing that we have 'ghost villages' here in cornwall where every house is a holiday home. noone lives in these towns during the winter and so all teh post offices are closing down and local shops and there is no village community. 2 months in teh summer everyone from london in their 4x4 'chelsea wagons' come down and and try and 'live the good life'. i cant believe noone (the government) has prevented this from happening!! anyway, i digress:
Andy L: can you point me in the direction of links for flats in the south west for £60k!? you are talking about the south west of england right?;-)
Guy Montag: thanks for the links, ill have a look later when i have more time.
ringo: im a web designer, so hence the pay is not too good. ild like to retrain in another sector of IT, but need to find advice on where and how.
i just cant believe that we live in a country where you have to buy a home with a complete stranger/group of strangers to be able to afford a home. where a studio apartment outside the city (and especially inside the city) go for 6 figure sums. AND STILL you get some smug smart !!!! on 'property ladder' or whatever other trashy shows they have on tv, saying how there are deals to be had and FTBs are being picky. did noone see this was going to happen 5 years ago? yes, im sure they did, but they were all home owners and 'we're alright jack'. c***s!
im sure that last sentence will provoke some replies!! ;-)0 -
The original (and best) forum is without doubt http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk.
The rip off is basically a bunch of antisocial bulls who got kicked off the original forum. Or stroppy long time moaners who didn't like 'adverts'.
The problem with the rip off forum is that is is basically unmoderated, so anything goes.
As a place to find out about the housepricecrash it is useless, as four or five uberbulls with multiple logins drown out any important threads with nonsense, bull!!!! and insults.
The only 'moderateror' ('consa') seems more interested in page imnpressions (and the resulting advert income) than making the forum a place where those interested in the crash can go to find out useful information and news about the crash, and discuss it without having to shout down moronic estate agent trolls.
This means that http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk is the only sensible option to find out about the house price crash (which is coming, apparently). The perfect financial storm is brewing...!0 -

I've had a look at both forums, and I would say that the level of debate is better on the "global" side than the original. Looking on the wikipedia there appears to have been "history" between the two sites, which means that we should perhaps take claims that one site is better than the other with a tablespoon of salt.

It seems that the rumour that I heard that the Scientologists were running the HPC site is incorrect, unless this "FUBRA" company is a front organisation. Given a cursory examination of the sites and a google search, it does appear that this Fubra shares some characteristics with the Scientology organisation.
It seems there is a simple experiment that will tell us which is the better site. Someone could register On HPC could you please post a thread recommending and linking to a thread under current dicussion on GHPC. And the same could be done on GHPC, post a thread recommending and linking to a thread on HPC. This should tell us whether the claims that HPC is heavily censored and GHPC is not are true or not.0 -

If there IS history between the two sites, whoever does this is probably going to be labelled a troll or banned. Not a good start to joining either website!
(p.s. how do the smilies work? Is there an faq on it?)0
