I had an Equifax report and after reading through I found an MBNA credit card with £5,500 limit, Nil balance, which is still showing as Up To Date. In the meantime, I am desperately trying to balance transfer to a lower rate a £4,800 balance from MINT as I'm currently paying only the minimum payment - this month its £108.00 - next month interest is estimated at £72. I am worried if I apply for a card they will decline me...aarghhhh. How do I find out what the MBNA card is? I have previously had a Virgin card but I received a letter over 12 months ago saying this had been closed as I had nil balance. I have since destroyed all my records for that card - silly I know now. I am assuming as it doesnt state 'Virgin' on the report then it must be this??? As the status is Up To Date does this mean I still have the account and can therefore do a balance transfer?? Thanks!

Virgin is an MBNA card with "Virgin" painted on it. Call capital one, ask if the account is closed, and if they say it is, ask why it shows as open on your credit file and insist they update your files immediately with the correct data.
If it's still open, ask if they can offer you a balance transfer. Good luck!Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

This will be your MBNA card. They had a programme (or several) of shutting down inactive accounts. It would appear that yours was never actually closed properly.
In order close it doen you need to call them - dont let them fob you off saying it is already closed (chances are, they will) - you need to tell them that your credit report shows the accouint as open and with available credit, as per your post.
Their number is 0800 062 062.No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.
