    I know other have already said but 1 month per year is good. Our place used to offer that but made so many 20 year plus people redundant they have changed it 1 week per year now and I think there is a maximum on that.

    If you work for a local authority, I believe there are statutory limits as to a redundancy payout. Check this out at work, but you may be mistaken - it could be one WEEK per year of work - then plus a small discretionary payout. Please check this out before making any decisions.
    Private sector redundancy is usually better than public sector.
  • Sorry to hear about him possibly being made redundant, all I would like to add to the great advice above is before he goes to make sure he has tied up any pension arrangements he has.
