Feeding problems with Staffy

Our Staffie will not her dry food if she gets anything else. I use to starve her for days just giving her dry food in the evening and nothing else and it staying untouched. Then I found the mother in law was feeding her during the day while I was at work..... I put a stop to that and she now eats it. Sometimes I hide food under it like a bit of tinned fish or some meat and she will eat the dry food to get to that. Also something she will pick the dry food up and drop that on the floor.
You just have to be cruel to be kind and only let her have the food you want her to eat. We always leave her food down so if she doesn't eat it when we give it her then its there if she wants it. We thought she was losing weight but when she had her annual check-up she'd put on 0.5KG! Although she was underweight to start off with.
