Also can I ask why you guys are after dual core computers? If its just because thats what television advertising says you want/need you may be better off with a single core processor that runs a little faster as very few applications at the moment take advantage of both cores. They're great if you want to do several fairly intensive things at once like burning/watching dvds and image editing etc but if you are just going to surf the web or play a cd or play a game or even have a word doccument open and a web browser its not overly important to have 2 cores.
Cheers for the advice on the PSU- to be honest I'll probably upgrade it as it's a PSU fault that has led me to replace my computer as it went and took my motherboard and CPU with it. Prob a good time to upgrade anyway.
As far as choosing a Dual core it is going to be used for my girlfriends freelance design work where works on images in photoshop while creating designs in Illustrator CS2 and constantly flitting between the two, which has been too much for my previous system Athlon xp 2400+ with 512mB RAM and a 64MB Graphics card. She also likes to be running music at the same time and messenger!
I have haggled a bit with Dell this morning and told them to come back with their best price at around 380 to get my business today... still waiting for them to get back to me on that though haha0 -
fair enough - for something like that dual core will be a bonus. Look for PSUs by the likes of antec - bit priceier but well worth it0
