Hi guys,
I have a question about the battery life for my Dell Inspiron 1300. I bought a laptop from Dell Outlet a few months back with the standard battery and the extended-life 6 cell battery.
However, I'm not particularly happy with their performance and wonder how others fare in terms of battery longevity.
When fully charged, the normal battery only lasts for around 80 minutes with the screen brightness set midway between maximum and minimum brightness, and the 6 cell battery for only around 100 minutes at a similar setting.
Is this comparable with what everyone else gets?
Cheers, guys.

My f-i-l has the forerunner to the 1300, the 1100. With the standard battery he gets around 70-90 minutes depending on whether he is wireless or not at the time.
hope this helps0 -
Cheers. I should perhaps switch off the wireless when I'm on the road. I didn't realise it could be a real drain on resources. Will give it a shot and see how it goes.
Anyone else?0 -
I recently replaced my Latitude battery after 3 years solid service"See you on the Other Side"0

I upgraded my 1300 to a 6400 after a few weeks but I seem to remember getting more than a 100 minutes out of a 56WH battery but I couldn't swear to it.
If you're interested I just listed my unused spare 56wh 6 cell batt. on ebay today as it doesn't fit the 6400. You should be able to find it if you look as it's the cheapest one on there!0 -
There are some good tips here for improving your battery life..... http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/stayconnected/battery.mspx
There is also a problem when XP is running anything connected to the USB ports which can drain battery life, so check this out for more info..... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/9180050 -

There's no way I'm paying a total of £62 for it from the UK when you can pick them up for $10 from the US!

$10 from the US!! Can you point me in the right direction as I assume 6400 batteries will be a similar price and if so I'll get a few? If I'd have know this I wouldn't have ordered a spare in the first place!!
Is this price difference the same for all laptop batteries in the states then? If so perhaps there should be a sticky about it as I'm guessing a lot of people aren't aware.0 -

I spoke to a couple of mates in the pub last night that were shocked but very interested at this price. Can you please give us a link to where you can get them for $10 as I think they thought I was talking bulls**t? I looked on ebay US but the prices there work out similar to UK prices after postage etc.0
