Planting out 2 small flower borders

Evening all, need some inspiration. Got 2 borders on the edge of the lawn, seperated by a small lawn walkway. Each border is a bit over a metre long by 60cm wide, marked out with some very low dark brown fencing and I have no idea what to put in them. I currently have plonked in them 2 cranesbill 'brookside' which are purpley-blue in colour and are doing very well. I like the cottage garden style but not sure if could do this with such small spaces. Has anyone got any tips for me please? Don't want make the same mistake of last time by spending a fortune on random plants without doing any research on how they'd do first  thanks!!

How high do you want them to be and annual or perennial? :)

Fancy seeing you here, haha. Don't mind staking or tying so doesn't matter how high. They are going to be visible all the way round so do you think it'd matter if some plants were quite high? Perennial is the way forward I think. What do you think to this - http://www.thompson-morgan.com/plants1/product/p81996/1.html I'm itching to use my vouchers!! Not sure if some of the varieties would be more suited to a border you can't see the back of though if you get me.

That post lost a whole paragraph, either that or I'm going mad... :D

I don't think it'll matter about the fact you can see the back of the border, You'll probably find the higher plants still have something going on lower down, or you could place the high ones in the middle with the lower ones on either side.
