online banking email scam

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place for this topic, but I think all users of online banking should be aware of this.
I have recieved an email claiming to be from Halifax asking me to verify my login details, otherwise my account will be suspended. The email includes a link to a page which looks almost identical to Halifax's actual login page. I phoned Halifax to confirm if this was a genuine email from them, and was told it was NOT GENUINE.
Just a heads up, it looks genuine so I think some people could be fooled by this.

Hi
These phishing e-mails are all too common - I probaby get 3 or 4 of these a week - ensure you are using a spam filter and the majority of these wont get through to you - as for the ones that do - just do what you have done and dont fall for their tricks!0 -
You don't need to phone Halifax. It will be a phishing email, banks don't send you emails with links.
You just log in using your usual bookmark and delete the email.0 -
Hi
I receive phishing emails all the time. Most end up in the junk folder. The others I delete.

It's intended to look genuine - otherwise it's a bit pointless? But all the Halifax ones I get have grammar / punctuation errors and inappropriate use of capitals that give them away.
Halifax will occasionally use links in Emails ....... but they will always include part of your designatory data (usually part of the postcode) to authenticate itIf you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
These emails have been around for years so no need for a heads up as this is OLD news like back in ancient times. You would need to be a complete retard to follow such emails and put your log in details on them.0

Like everyone else I get several a week, strangely never from anyone I actually bank with. HSBC are trying to restrict my account which I don't have with them on almost a daily basis.
A few people tell me they fill them in with abuse towards the scammer, but I prefer just to delete the email without even clicking on it.0 -
You can usually tell because it will say "Dear account holder" or "Dear customer" rather than your name, and as said above usually has some other ID marker as well such as the last 4 digits of your account number.Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!
C'MON! Let's get this debt sorted!!0
