Grass and Weeds

In my garden it used to be lawn and regular garden. This was sheeted over with those ones that stop weeds and then covered over with lots of Stones and chippings.

I still get lots of weeds and lots of grass grow through the sheeting and the stones.

So much for plants needing sunlight to grow.

Have tried some weed killer on the weeds and then pulled out taking the root but my gardens covered again.

What can I use the get rid of the weeds and also stop the grass coming through.

I think i should find something totally drown the place, kill everything and hopefully just remove them

Glyphosate is the best weedkiller. People may suggest sodium chlorate but it is now banned and thus illegal to use.

Are the weeds growing in the stones on top of the weed membrane, or actually through the membrane? How heavy duty was your membrane - has it rotted off? Phormisol or similar strength would be advisable. And make sure the individual pieces of membrance overlap properly - the wider the pieces, the less overlap for plants to grow through.

They come thru the membrane, which is just covered over with lots of stones. Most of it looks untouched but the weeds have forced there way thru the membrane and no it hasnt rotten.

Would the Glyphosate kill the grass that is growing through too ?

It would have been best to did out the roots in the first place. Dandelions in particular can have long, thick roots that can grow through the soil, this is they they're so hard to get rid of, even with weedkiller.
