What is defined as a bank account??

I no that sounds like a daft question but i'm trying to open a Natwest step account and have read you can't open one if you have another bank account.
At the moment all my money goes on a Tuxedo cash card, I'm not sure this counts as an actual bank account but i'm desperate to get rid of it as it doesn't provide statements and charges me £5 a month and every transaction they charge 50p, doesn't sound alot but had it for 2 years and get paid weekly

There are no rules stopping you having a basic bank account if you have another account elsewhere. Certainly a card such as the Tuxedo doesn't even count as a bank account.
  • I have heard of people having no problems opening this account when they have a full bank account. The card you are using would or shouldn count anyway. If you are looking for a better prepaid card and you are a o2 customer they do 1 free to use but have limits on use.

Who told you that? You can have as many accounts as you like however it does not stop you from opening a step account unless you owe money to the RBS Group.

As others have said, there is no restriction of you opening a NatWest Step Account.

Even if you have any problems try opening another basic account or even a savings account with a cashcard. Either will give you free deposits and withdrawals.
