IE8 gmail problems

Hi
Finally got around to installing IE8 in Vista. Problem is when I try to read emails from company's which I use I'm not getting the full message - I get lots of boxes , sometimes with a red cross. Hope this makes sense and someone can help. :embarasse

BTW I have gmail running as a web application with Google Chrome.
Looks just like a normal application as you don't have to open the browser first just click on the Mail app from the desktop.
