unfair charges

Hi
I was wondering if anyone could kindly give me some advice about unfair charges. I dont know if this is the right section but here goes anyway...

I recieved a letter from the company which hold the freehold rights of my property which stated that after sending me the annaul charge of £14 twice before they were now charge me extra. The total bill from 14 quid was now a ridiculous £80! Now i have heard about bank charges being unfiar but this.....

Anyway i wrote a letter to them explaining i never recieved any demand and that i was willing to pay the £14 as i have done so in the past. However I got no reply and a few days ago ggot a county court letter through the post. COST NOW HAS GONE TO £140!

surley this cant be right. Is there any law against such horrendous charges for a letter which would take 3 mins to write and then post etc?

I'm gonna fight this as a matter of principle but was wondering if anyone could give me some advice or relevant regulation concerning this.

Thanks for any help.

So what exactly are the charges made up of? Whats the time line also?

You may receive a better response posting in the debt free wannabe thread, especially if its debt collectors who are demanding the money.
