Exchanging Contracts

This is probably a silly question but thought I;d try..
Am FTB and we are handing in our signed contract and deposit to our solictor tomorrow morning so its ready for exchange and have given our preferred completion date as 16 days away. Does this sound do-able? I am assuming as we have been asked for the deposit and signed everything our end that exchange should be imminent. ie.by end of the week - does that sound right?

Yes..... or no.
Sounds like your solicitor is ready, but that doesn't mean everyone else is ready. How long is the chain?
If everyone else is ready then you might exchange in a day or two, and yes, Completion 16 days later is do-able.
But it only takes one person up the chain to have a hold-up (getting funds, checking something a survey threw up, double checking a search......) for the whole chain to be delayed.
Or one person might say "no, I'm on holiday that week so Completion has to be a week later...."
Be patient and keep in touch with your solicitor.0
