A Warning About Yorkshire Bank

I dont think this warning will apply to many students that read these boards as YB has the worst student account ever, no freebies, not interest free, not much of an overdraft, but I ended up going with them as i had banked with them for years. So anyway after 3 years, and a £1500 overdraft later, i check my online statement to see 2 unauthorized overdraft charges, i ring immeadiately to find out why and they tell me my overdraft had been cancelled, as stated in a letter im yet to receive. So i go in today to try and sort it out, to cut a long story short, they want all their money back ASAP, unlike nearly every other bank i know that give you a year or so 'Graduate' account to help you pay it back gradually.

So if you are a current YB customer and heading to uni, all i can say is do not take out their student account, its just not worth it.

I know how you feel. Halifax did this to me before they released their latest "all singing all dancing" student account. I also got informed in a letter I never received. Grrrr. As if the year after univeristy isn't hard enough without all that?
