I'm wearing one because when i tried on my dress i thought it finished the look off perfectly. I wasnt sure i wanted one until i had one on either. I just felt much more weddingy in it!

They dont have to be expensive. They're up for sale on YouandYourWedding all the time.

I got mine for £30 instead of £200 new. Bargain!

I was the same as picklepick - didn't think I wanted one until I tried one on with my dress!

My dress was strapless and I have quite broad shoulders, so I also liked it because it softened that expanse of shoulder flesh on display from the back. :rotfl:

Even after I had it, I had a wobble as my hairdresser did such a gorgeous, intricate hairstyle at the back that I then didn't want to cover it up! But I still loved my veil so I wore it for the ceremony and drinks, and had asked my BMs to come over and take it out at the start of the meal. It was around my face a bit so I knew I wouldn't want to eat in it.

They are very weddingy and I did love mine. It depends on your dress to an extent though - when you have fittings, ask to try some veils with it and see what you think. Different lengths and styles will suit different dresses.

Here's mine (gratuitous pics!) and then my girls taking it out at dinner. :D

I also didn't think I was going to have one - until I tried on the most beautiful veil with my dress, and fell absolutely in love- it made me feel like a bride rather than a girl in a pretty dress!

I recommend trying one on, just because you can't know the impact of a veil until you try it (and different lengths too - I was just lucky that my first veil was the perfect veil). Also try on tiaras (with & without a veil).

To be honest, I'm more excited about my veil and tiara than about the dress - it's a lovely, beautiful dress, but with the veil & the tiara it's a wedding dress and I feel more 'weddingy' somehow :)

No veil for me as my dress didn't come with one and I think it would be too difficult to match to my dress so it's just a tiara for me.

It's personal choice at the end of the day but they are just not for me!

    Hi Lindaatno9

Its the Alfred Angelo 1136 dress.

I'm still undecided on my hair, but my hair is bra strap length and I'm wanting it half up half down with curls in and a bit of height to fit my tiara into.

    Thanks everyone for your input.

I have to admit the dress does look better with a veil, as like Sarah I have broad shoulders.

However it feels very strange wearing one, and I'm worried about it falling out or not staying in place.

Are you doing your hair yourself or having a hairdresser do it? If the hairdresser does it they will be well experienced at putting veils in. Mine felt completely secure, even with people hugging me etc which pulls on it a little.

If you're having your hair half down then you'll have some hair on your shoulders so that'll cover you a up a little so a veil isn't as necessary from that perspective.

My main reasoning was, when else in my life do I get to wear one? :rotfl:

When I tried dresses on they put a tiara on before adding the veil so that I could see the tiara then the veil and the tiara and with just the tiara all I could think was princess fiona :rotfl::rotfl:It was just me and I know no one else would think that (hope not anyway) but it just looked better with both.
Sarah what kind of veil did you have, I think I want something like that
