Restrictions with a built in garage.

I'm thinking about buying a semi-detatched house which has a built in garage. The bedroom and bathroom are above the garage and the house next door has its own garage built alongside making the two houses mirror images of themselves.

My partner wants to use the garage to store his motorbike and install workbenches, etc to make a small workshop. He's worried that being a built in garage that's also attached the property next door there could be restrictions on what can be kept in there. Could this be a problem?

As long as the garage is built and designed as a garage ( i.e. the appropriate safety and building regs have been adhered to ), then you can use it for any use that a domestic garage would normally be used for - workshop or bike parking is fine. Of course, if you start using power tools at midnight and cause a noise nuisance, that's a different issue :-)
