I have posted this in the basic bank accounts link but with no success so i've popped it in here.
Hi, don't know if anyone can help me with this, i have a really bad credit rating but have a current account with alliance and leicester.
I have a disabled child who is soon to have his own carer, social services are paying for this so i need to open an account for social services to pay into monthly/quarterly, this could range from £300 - £500 per month, i need statements for social services and a cheque book to pay the carer.
i have applied for a basic account with alliance and leicester but have found out today i have been rejected. i would have thought as we had a current account with them already that would be simple to have a second account??
I need to open this account asap so we can start having our son cared for during the summer school holidays, does anyone know of a bank i should try that would be the best bet for a successful aplication?

I have heard that Barclays doesn't credit check at all for it's basic bank account, although you do have to go in to the branch to open it as it cannot be done online. Failling that, Halifax and Natwest both do one too (i have accounts with them). Good luck!"You don't always know where you stand, until you know you won't run away..."0

I don't think basic bank accounts come with a cheque book.
Sorry

I think the only basic account that comes with a cheque book is run by Norwich and Peterborough0

I suppose i could pay his carer by bank transfer, i do have a barclays nearby so that would be handy. i heave read that citibank are ok but you apply online then have to wait for the forms to come through the post, sign and return with id, then wait for a decision,,,, could really do with knowing really soon so maybe barclays would be the best option. Thanks for all your advice.0
