Student Finance...YAY

Options
Okay so I orginally applied in December on a Paper form - this was acknowledged recieved on the 31st December 2009. However after various and multiple attempts of sending my parents fianical details in they still claim they haven't recieved them. The last attempt by special delivery over a month ago - what now? I'm serious worried about not recieving my loan in time now :/

I would call again and ask to speak to a supervisor or manager if they still can't help you. I had a similar problem last year and it eventually turned out they'd been sat on a pile for 7 weeks in a 'backlog' which wouldn't be sorted for several more weeks. I did paper copies aswell last year but have done it all online this year and it seems to have been a bit easier, although i'm still waiting for documents to be sent back

I agree with the previous poster and would personally lodge a complaint both with Student Finance and your MP. The more that ludicrous 'service' like this is brought to the attention of Parliament, the more likely it is to be sorted and, personally speaking, my MP has been magnificent when it has come to spanking the backside of places like SF etc.

I would also recommend applying online in future - it is not without it's (numerous) problems, but it does mean that they can't claim to have lost things as it is all logged on the system. Good luck!

this has also happened to my daughter..........she did her claim online and all that needed posting was our evidence (her parents)....i sent this and they said they didnt receive it so i resent it recorded delivery - mums and dads in the same envelope.........they now say theyve received mine but not her dads..............now waiting for more evidence so i can resend it to them.............very annoying...

That just shows how useless they are if they are claiming to have received one lot of documents but not the other if they were in the same envelope. Really is enough to put people off uni the amount of hassle it is to get money.

A little update..Now...for no apparent reason they have changed my course from 3 years Full time...to 6 years Part time...WHAT?!?!...and now have to fill in a change of circumstances form...what or why they changed it is far far beyond me...god help me get the right money in time.
  • Lol typical SLC. I always seem to apply late for my loan mind and it always comes through on time. I just think they give you a deadline to make you panic a bit so they don't have a last minute rush in applications.

I'm having similar problems. Even though I've already sent them a copy of my tax return for 2008/09, I keep receiving letters from SLC requesting yet more vaguely defined "evidence" of income for that year. Their telephone advisers are pretty useless - their views on what comprises acceptable evidence seems to be fairly arbitrary.

Talk about moving the goalposts! Useless bunch.
