car insurance exclusions

forgive me if this is well known already but I have a question to ask.

Has all car insurance now got an exclusion for parking cars at an airport. If so, how does one insure the vehicle for this.

Many thanks for your help

Does your policy say something along the lines of "We exclude cover Airside" ?

    hi dacouch

    This is what it says:

    "Use on airfields
any liability, injury, damage or accident while the vehicle is parked or is being driven in any part of an airport or airfield set aside for:
moving, taking off or landing of aircraft
aircraft parking areas and associated roads, and ground equipment parking, maintenance and refuelling areas
customs examination areas of passenger terminals"

After reading it again, it makes sense if the car is on the aircraft tarmac area, but I still find it confusing when it speaks of 'any part of an airport'

    Thanks for your help

It's a common exclusion on virtually all motor policies, we normally refer to it as "Airside".

It does not prevent you parking at an airport car park.

What it does stop you doing is using your car airside which is in effect areas where aircraft have access to. The reason they exclude it are if you caused an accident to an aeroplane, the cost for the damage to the plane could be hundreds of millions even without the injury claims from the passengers.

The wording on your exclusion is not that clear but if you look at it the salient part is the "Moving, taking off or landing of aircraft".
