Dishwasher Issue

Hi guys
Second post today - getting my dose of money saving out of the way for the week!
Our dishwasher for the past couple of weeks has been on the blink. The lower arm is no longer rotating yet the upper is fine. We've taken the lower arm out and thoroughly washed it and poked out the holes with a needle to shift any debris, as well as used two of those dishwasher solutions to shift any gunk you cannot see but it still doesn't spin. We've cleaned the filters etc and checked that it spins freely when nudged - all ok. Any clues as to why its not spinning? Water pressure here is fine, and as the top arm spins ok I would guess that the pump is operating fine?
Really don't want to have to pay for a repair man to come and fix it - have lots of things we're saving for and don't want to dip into it! We just want sparkly dishes again!!!
Thanks in advance

Sounds like you've checked all the obvious things. A couple of ideas you might try :
First, is the lower rack damaged at all, meaning that when you load plates or whatever, they are protruding through the bottom far enough to catch on the spray arm ?
The only other thing I can think of ( I'm no expert ! ) is, is the pipe that delivers the water to the spray arm connected OK and not blocked ? I'm not sure how easy this would be to check yourself - I expect it would mean opening up the bottom of the dishwasher somehow.0
