Can a fine be reclaimed?

Hi moneysavers,

I'm wondering if and how a fine can be reclaimed from a private parking company from the end of 2004?
The car park used is near a hospital where I had an appointment and the hospital cp was full. I parked at the nearby one, and unfortunately because the consultant was off sick my appointment ran over by more than 2 hours.
When I hobbled (at 8 months pregnant) back to my car with my young daughter, who was starving as it was now past lunchtime, we were mortified to see the car was clamped. We had to pay as we needed to get my daughter home and fed, and the guy who came ot remove the clamp actually drove my husband to a cashpoint to get the cash
I believe the charge was around £70. Can we get this back from them or is it too late as we just paid up?

Thanks,
Kathryn

I would say that you got absolutely no chance of reclaiming something from almost 6 years ago, and probably the company who issued the ticket has gone onto a new name and ltd company from then.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

If they are still around, technically yes. You have 6 years.

But you would need to build your case and find out the landowner as any clamping firm will just ignore any CCJs.

It's just not worth the effort.

    Thanks for your replies...
The company is operational and still the same. If it would be more of a hassle then I suppose I should just leave it, as much as I hate to be outdone financially in any way!
It would have been more about the principle than the money if I did pursue it, I mean if you had clamped an 8 month pregnant person with a hungry toddler that she couldn't get home to feed, could you sleep at night? Annoys me that these companies treat people in such a manner.
    Ah well :undecided
    Thanks again

Doesn't mean that its the same ltd company, these people often change ltd companies, then say they are trading as for example excel parking
